Fascinating Frithia -- notes on a summer-rainfall window-plant.

Recent studies indicate that the minute mesemb genus Frithia, first thought to be monotypic, now comprises two species (F. pulchra and F. humilis). Extensive fieldwork shows that it is restricted to three provinces of South Africa (Gauteng, the North West Province and Mpumalanga) and that the two species are not found together. Morphological differences between them have led to the description of the second species, F. humilis, and some of these differences are highlighted here; a distribution mapand a key are also provided.
