The DME challenge

The dimethyl ether (DME) industry has an increasingly uneasy relationship with LPG - and it faces a significant threat in China. Chinese authorities have launched a crackdown against the sale of LPG blended with DME after Dongguan Jiufeng Energy, a key domestic fuel supplier in southern Guangdong province, was found to have defied a 2008 ban on the distribution of the fuel (see p1).
