Pakistan's autogas expansion faces various infrastructural difficulties, but consumption is growing. Pakistan allowed the use of LPG as autogas as far back as 2005, and consumption now stands at around 412,000 t/yr with an overall autogas vehicle fleet of around 200,000 — making it one of the region's larger autogas markets. But the country has an undeveloped retail infrastructure, which leads to the problem of unsafe filling practices. LPG is sold by producers and importers to marketing firms, which supply it to small retail outlets that resort to decanting.
