A second species of Acharagma

Two small cactus species of northern Mexico have not fit conveniently in any genus. The first was described by Boedeker in 1928 as Echinocactus roseanus. Glass and Foster (1970) later placed it in the genus Gymnocactus. Two years later they described a new species as Gymnocactus aguirreanus (Glass and Foster, 1972). One of my students and I (Andersoin and Ralston, 1978), in our study of Gymnocactus and Thelocatus, commented that neither of these species seemed to "fit" with the other gymnocacti.
