Restrictions to market competition and regulatory bottlenecks are preventing the growth of the LPG industry in South Africa, the country's Competition Commission says. The commission released preliminary findings from its LPG market inquiry on 10 May, proposing a number of recommendations to improve the situation. “Once there is sufficient capacity to supply LPG to the domestic market and competition restraints are removed, the market should move towards deregulation,” the commission says.
