The Tioga plant is located in North Dakota, and Nova aims to transport the ethane from the plant to Alberta, Canada, through the proposed Vantage pipeline. Nova plans to use the ethane at its Joffre petrochemical complex near Empress, Alberta. The agreements came two weeks after Vantage filed an application with the National Energy Board to construct and operate the 45,000 b/d pipeline, which Nova says will be expandable to 60,000 b/d.
