The Royal Library in The Hague has been a leader in developing and exploring approaches to long-term preservation of digital objects. Libri invited its distinguished Board Member, Wim van Drimmlen, to share some of his views on this important issue with our readers. What follows is based on a presentation made in May 2003 at the STM Conference in Amsterdam. We hope its appearance will encourage more papers on this important topic.
