Pakistan grumbles over prices

Pakistan's LPG distributors say marketing companies and producers have been making unfair profits by charging excessively high prices. "From 2004 to August 2008, marketing companies have made unfair profits of more than 80bn rupees (1.1bn) and LPG producers made unfair profits of more than Rs15bn. Over the last eight years, LPG prices have gone up by 401 pc to Rs50,899t, from Rs12,299t in 2001," says the chairman of one of the country's two industry-backed LPG distributors associations, Irfan Khokar.
