"User pay, user say" was the position taken by the BC Shellfish Growers Association (BCSGA) at a recent shellfish workshop on Government Cost Recovery in Courtenay, BC Moderated by Sharon Ford, executive director of the Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance (CAIA), participants debated a number of issues and cost-recovery schemes arising out of continuing federal goyeminent budget cutbacks that are affecting shellfish inspection and water quality monitoring programs.
