Seadrill swells ranks of new North Sea jackups

Another two North Sea-capable high specification jackups have been ordered, bringing the number of newbuilds being marketed for or having commitments in the region to 15. This does not include the three Maersk Drilling and one North Atlantic Drilling CJ-70 units that have commitments in place for work off Norway. See the chart overleaf for the units contained in the subset that could come to the UK, Dutch or Danish sectors. Seadrill was behind the two most recent jackup orders, and has confirmed that the F&G JU-2000E design rigs will be capable of and marketed for work in the southern North Sea and in specific locations in the central North Sea. They will also be marketed for work in other global locations.
