New EPDs Bring New Opportunities

For its Spring 2015 EPD release, NALF has made the shift to the common base with International Genetic Solutions (IGS), which includes 10 breed associations from the United States and Canada. This consortium constitutes the largest multi-breed datasetof beef cattle data in history at more than 15 million animal records and more than 35,000 genotypes. It is a multi-breed national cattle evaluation for calving-ease, weight and carcass trait EPDs, for those traits directly comparable across consortiumbreeds (averages shown in Table 1).
