Selecting a Lawn Grass: TALL FESCUE VERSUS ZOYSIAGRASS

Selecting a turfgrass for a new lawn can be more agonizing than picking a new house color, and the consequences can be more lasting. For a successful lawn installation or renovation project, it is necessary to be aware of specific visual distinctions,as well as specific management and environmental requirements. In addition, cost differences can be significant. In the last several years, it seems that tall fescue and zoysiagrass have become the most popular grasses for moderate- to high-maintenancelandscapes in Central (Piedmont) North Carolina. Even though other grasses can be grown, the focus of this article will be only on these two popular choices.
