This is a reply to the concerns raised by Hart (Land Economics (2008) 85(2), 378-382) about the validity of some of the assumptions in Valderama and Anderson's (Land Economics (2007) 83(1), 86-103) analysis of rotational management for the Atlantic sea scallop fishery. The issues raised by Hart about price premiums, initial conditions of the model, the definition of adaptive rotational management, impacts on bycatch, and practical issues concerning the implementation of rotational plans are addressed.
