Applications of an Effective Stress Based Liquefaction Analysis Method to Engineering Problems

A brief explanation of the effective stress basedanalysis method LIQCA is given. Simulated results of a simpleshear test considering OCR were consistent with published testresults. Using soil parameters thus defined, analyses of thefollowing engineering problems are presented, and the results arebriefly summarized: 1) the damage suffered by the Kawagishi-choapartment house during the 1964 Niigata Earthquake; 2) thefoundations of a 20000 kl oil storage tank stiffened using thegravel drain method; and 3) embankments with and without steelsheet pile wall support.
