摘要

A truss girder deck is employed for the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge due to aerodynamic stability, structural efficiency in erection, and economy. A pin joint system is applied for hanger support system. The roadway deck is designed as a series of a20-span continuous steel floor system which allows the improvement of drivability. Most of the truss chord members are determined by gale-force wind load condition, and in order to reduce its own weight, quenched and tempered high strength steel such asHT780 and HT690 are used. Considering fatigue endurance, every member of the stiffening girder is designed by improving welding details and by reducing stress concentrations. This paper introduces the outlines and the characteristic features of thedesign, fabrication, and erection.
