Automatic ultrasonic testing system of plates using digital signal processing

NICK has replaced an automatic ultrasonic testing sys tem of plates at Keihin works on May 1997. In order to improve reliability of the ultrasonic testing and to reduce costs of equipment and inspection, we have newly applied a digital noisereduction techniques of chirp pulse compression and synchronous averaging. This paper reports the outline of the new ultrasonic testing system and the new technology.
