NKK received the order from Tokyo Steel Manufacturing Co., Ltd. to design and construct endlessrolling system for bars and rods for the rolling mill at Tokyo Steel Takamatsu works. This is theWorld's first continuous bar rolling mill. The plant started commercial operations in March 1998.The system joins hot billets, which directly supplied by the continuous casting machine, before themill train. The breakthrough technique, which is the so-called "endless bar rolling", allows the rollingmill to run continuously. This paper reports the outline of "endless rolling system for bars and rods"developed by NKK citing the facilities at Tokyo Steel Takamatsu works.
