Development of FRP cylinder with Φ400mm for natural gas vehicle fuel tank

NKK and Kokan Drum Co. developed FRP Cylinders withφ400mm of Al. liner O.D. for natural gas vehicle fuel tanks, which acquired a general approval of MITI. Kokan Drum Co. had already started to sell these cylinders and Toyota Motor Company adopted one size of them as fuel tanks of CROWN which were used as the official cars in Nagano Olympic. In this report, a summary of design, FW technology, and evaluation tests of these FR? cylinders are introduced.
