Stamicarbon and IPCOS sign process control agreement

Maire Tecnimont, through its subsidiary Stamicarbon, has signed a cooperation agreement with IPCOS NV of Belgium to provide urea producers with IPCOS' Advanced Process Control (APC) and Optimisation solutions. The companies say that the agreement will lead to a next generation urea optimisation solution being made available to the market. This low-cost solution, with paybacks ranging from 3-12 months, will, according to the companies, allow urea producers to significantly improve their production rates and operating efficiency without the need to undertake major plant equipment investments. The IPCOS' APC solution ensures continuous, consistent operation, with variability in key process parameters significantly reduced, and production rates and energy efficiency increased compared to conventional, operator-driven operation. Downstream units such as granulation or prilling benefit from the improved consistency of the quality of the urea melt.
