摘要

In recent years, several methods for bio-conjugating luminescent quantum dots (Qdots) have been developed, giving rise to specific Qdot targeting in bioanalytical studies. While typical organic fluorochromes undergo photobleaching within a few seconds, semiconductor nanocrystals exhibit high photostabilities for several minutes under continuous illumination. Therefore, Qdots provide valuable tools for monitoring dynamic cellular processes and for detecting low-abundance target molecules.
