Uralchem and Stamicarbon collaborate on urea technology

Russian fertilizer producer Uralchem has signed a joint technology development agreement for urea synthesis with Maire Tecnimont licensing subsidiary Stamicarbon, one of the world's major developers and licensors of urea processes. Uralchem says that the eventual aim is the creation of a new urea technology available for commercial use worldwide. The technology will combine Stamicarbon's intellectual property with Uralchem's research cooperation with the Moscow State University Department of Chemistry. Uralchem has been working with the MSU on the concept of 100% CO2 conversion since 2008. The new technology aims to produce higher quality urea with less capital expenditure.
