摘要

Based on the results of simulation and experimental data, analytic approximations of the quantities characterizing electron multiplication in the near-cathode region are proposed. The approximations proposed are employed in the analysis of the dependence of plasma parameters (electron and ion densities and currents and the electric field intensity) on the distance from the cathode surface. Simple formulas are proposed for determining total current, width of the near-cathode region, and the potential drop as functions of the electric field intensity at the cathode surface.
