Correct investigation of the statistic irregularities of integrated optical waveguides using waveguide light scattering

摘要

The phenomenon of waveguide mode scattering in an irregular planar optical waveguide is investigated. The solution of the direct problem is refined with the help of the theory of perturbations. The inverse waveguide scattering problem consists in restoring the autocovariance function and determining the parameter irregularities by measuring data from the scattering diagram in the far zone. Computer simulation makes it possible to prove that our method enables us to acquire an approximate correct solution of the inverse problem with a root-mean-square error in restoring the given autocovariance functions of no more than 35% in the presence of high real noise (for SNR greater than or equal to 1). The statistic parameters of irregularities in this case are determined with an error of less than 15-30%.
