摘要

Thirteen mungbean (Vigna radiate L. Wilczek) genotypes were tested for 10 physical characters which determine seed quality. There was significant variation between genotypes for 100 seed weight and volume before and after soaking, hydration capacity,swelling capacity, hydration index and swelling index. The coefficient of variation for seed density before and after soaking was low. LM-114, PDM-54, A-83 and TM-96-2 had the best seed quality in respect of swelling index. Swelling capacity, hydration capacity, 100 seed weight and volume before and after soaking were positively inter correlated. Swelling capacity was positively correlated with swelling index while the reverse was true for soaked seed density. The path analysis showed high positive direct effect of swelling capacity on swelling index. The study suggested that swelling capacity must be given preference along with optimum soaked seed density to selfect superior types for good grain quality.
