Zinc demand in Japan is expected rise 1.2% to 485kt in 2016, just 2% below the five year-average. This comesas Japan has delayed is consumption tax rise and a forecast 0.9% growth in the construction sector in 2016.Japanese fiscal and monetary stimulus, coupled with a 1.6% year-on-year growth in the construction sector, hasresulted in Japan’s GDP growing at an annualised rate of 0.2% during the June Quarter of 2016. In spite of astrong yen, Japanese industrial production is expected to increase over the second half of 2016, after a weakfirst half as manufacturers expand production plans. AME expects this will result in lead demand rising 0.2% to496kt in 2016.
