The profile of Chinese growth has been two speed – as the coastal regions have roared ahead, growth in the central and western provinces has been modest. Although Chinese policy makers are trying to re-orient the centres of growth further inland, the coastal regions of China now more closely resemble developed Taiwan or Korea than they do the relatively undeveloped hinterland.
