Vedanta's Skorpion mine in Namibia has commenced the conversion of its 150 ktpa high-grade zinc electrolytic refinery to enable it to treat zinc sulphides. Skorpion is shifting from mining oxides to sulphides as the ore body becomes depleted. The successful completion of this venture is anticipated to increase the operation's lifespan beyond 2016.
