Political or sovereign risk for the materials industry is multi-faceted. In recent years there has been much discussion of the fact that the conventional understanding of political risk does not accurately reflect the true risks faced by the resources sector. Too often, conventional measures of risk have not given enough attention to the tax burden, which is of key interest to miners operating in different jurisdictions.
