FOCUS ON REFINED ZINC SUPPLY

In the March quarter, AME estimates that 3,346kt of finished zinc metal was produced. AME anticipates annual refined production in 2012 will total 13.46Mt representing a year on year increase of 5.5%. AME estimates that refined zinc supply grew by 2.4% in 2011, outpacing demand which grew by only 1.8%. In 2012 we expect finished metal demand growth of 5.5% which will begin to eat into the surpluses of inventory built up over the last few years as refined production increases by only 2.9% to 13.5Mt and another 3.9% in 2013.
