The advent of summer in the Northern Hemisphere has been unkind to lead and zinc, and June 2012 has been a lacklustre month. Zinc prices averaged $1,861/t (84.4c/lb), a decrease of close to 4% from May, and hit a yearly low of $1,760/t (79.8c/lb) at the end of month. Lead prices exhibited an even more mediocre performance, averaging $1,859/t (84.3c/lb), a month-on-month decline of 7%, and stooped to a yearly low of at $1,744/t (79.1c/lb) at the end of the month in synchronicity with zinc.
