Sichuan Hongda Co. Ltd 2012 has announced the company’s forecast output for refined zinc production, which includes zinc ingot and zinc alloy, has increased 1.5% to 200kt. Refined zinc production in 2011 increased 6% year on year to 197kt. Zinc concentrate production, however, has decreased a marked 50% from 1.2Mt to 600kt due to anticipated lower ore grades. This highlights the increasing issue of declining Chinese zinc ore grades that may lead to smelters sourcing an increasing amount of concentrate from overseas.
