Compact, high power, high beam quality, polarized lasers are demanded in lots of applications in industries and in researches such as micro-machining and efficient harmonic generation. To achieve such characteristics, two main conditions are required: a laser gain material with a capability for sustaining high pump power while exhibiting high gain and limited thermal lensing effect, and a pump scheme that provides excellent overlap between the pump volume and the laser mode [1]. Diode pumped solid state lasers have proved to be compact, efficient sources with high beam qualities. But the output power is limited by the absorbed pump power before inducing fraction of the laser crystal. And the thermal induced lensing strongly influences the beam quality. To get a higher output power with high beam quality, the optical efficiency should be increased, and the thermal effect should be reduced.
