After reaching 3.2Mt in the December 2009 quarter, zinc in concentrate supply fell in the first quarter of 2010 to 2.8Mt but is estimated to have expanded marginally again in the second quarter. There was a small but welcome concentrate deficit in the first quarter allowing idle concentrates to be consumed. AME estimates that total zinc in concentrate production for 2010 will be 11.8Mt, up from 11.5Mt in 2009. We forecast concentrate supply to increase by around 3% in 2010 and another 5% in 2011.
