The benefits and risks of using cefovecin for the treatment of superinfections, particularly coryza in cats, are presented. The pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, efficacy and potency of this antibiotic are highlighted. Moreover, the resistance or susceptibility of different infectious agents to cefovecin as well as development of resistance to this drug are discussed.
