This article discusses the use of insulin therapy for treatment of diabetes mellitus in dogs and cats. Focus is given on the choice of insulin to use for each species (Caninsulin), dosage selection and adjustment, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics, efficacy and potency of insulin. Alternative anti-diabetic drugs are also presented.
