Thermal Effect of Laser Radiation on Photoconductive HgCdTe Detector

摘要

Experimental studies were carried out on the response characteristics of a photoconductive HgCdTe detector irradiated by an off-band CW CO{sub}2 laser. A new phenomenon was observed which was very different from that in which an 'in-band' laser was employed. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation suggested that the major response of the detector to the radiation of off-band light is a thermal effect whereas that of the radiation of 'in-band' light is an optical effect.
