If only it were that easy. Conophytum is an enormous genus with nearly a hundred species, and many others when including subspecies, varieties, and cultivars. We will look at Five Easy Species. The only catch is a species that's easy and robust in oneclimate may be difficult in another, with the reverse equally true. The five chosen below are robust nearly everywhere. Conophytum are greatly unappreciated. There are only a few dozen serious Conophytum growers in the United States. European growers do much better, even though the climate is more difficult. Japanese growers do well, but the number of serious growers seems to be in decline there as well.
