Carbon Brainprint: WILLIAM STEPHENS outlines how Cranfield University Is helping other organisations reduce their carbon footprint

THE need for organisations to reduce their carbon footprint is now well accepted and Universities are no exception. The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has recently published its policy requiring universities to target reductions of 34% and 80% by 2020 and 2050 respectively. Cranfield University is contributing strongly to this target by committing to a 50% reduction in carbon emissions over the next five years, compared to business as usual, the highest target set by a University so far.
