PetroEcuador to raise Guayaquil gas output

Ecuador抯 state-owned oil company PetroEcuador plans to invest $200mn over the next three years to boost gas production in block 3 in the Gulf of Guayaquil, according to the company抯 general manager Marco Calvopina. The first $40mn will be invested this year. US independent Noble Energy returned the block to the state late last year after failing to agree new fee-based contract terms by the 23 November deadline (ALE, 1 December, p4). Calvopina claims that output will reach 45mn ft3/d by the end of this year, up from 35mn ft3/d now. And then rise further, to 65mn ft3/d in 2012 and to 80mn ft3/d in 2013.
