Oil firms step up tax fight

US independent Harvest Natural Resources(Harvest)has warned that it is prepared to seek international arbitration over a number of tax and other decisions taken by the Venezuelan government.This is the first indication that oil companies are now prepared to resist unilateral moves by the Venezuelan government to revise operating terms and increase their tax take from privately operated oil fields.But there are no signs that Caracas is ready to compromise.
