Screening test for pesticides in water,food and drink

The MAIA (Micro-plate Acetylcholnesterase Inhibition Assay) test system is designed for the detecton of residues of organophosphate,orga-nochloride and carba-mate pesticides in hydro-acetonitrilic extracts of solid or liquid food matrices.The test is based on the principle of inhibition of acetyl-cholinesterase (AChE) enzyme activity by the pesticide residues;AChE activity is determined using a chromogenic substrate,acetylthiocholine,which is hydrolysed by the enzyme to produce thiocholine.
