Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a unique charity that combines research, campaigning and education to remove the fear of breast cancer. Their main research goal is to increase understanding of breast cancer which will improve diagnosis, treatment, quality of life and prevention. Breakthrough funds much of the work at the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Centre at the Institute of Cancer Research, London. The Breakthrough Centre was the first UK research centre dedicated solely to breast cancer research. In total, Breakthrough Breast Cancer has awarded ￡55 million in research grants and ￡35 million of this has been used to fund the work at the Breakthrough Research Centre.
