Arctic ice cap thinning will aid ice loss predictions

The Arctic ice cap has shown ice thinning by more than 50 metres in the last two decades, a finding which may help scientists improve predictions of global ice loss. A research team from the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (CPOM) at the University of Leeds used satellite images from the Svalbard region and found that a remote region of the Arctic ice cap has thinned by more than 25 m/yr since 2012.
