UK engineer wins multiple awards

A device which detects kitchen fires by measuring the infrared flicker of flames has won a student from Wiltshire a bevy of awards at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in California. James Popper won multiple awards - including the Intel ISEF Best of Category award for electrical and mechanical engineering worth $3000 plus a $5000 scholarship and $1000 grant to his school - for his 'Cookersmart' project.
