Since the advent of the laser in the early 1960s,a multitude of techniques have arisen based upon the scattering of laser light frojm particules or droplets dispersed in a fluid.One class of techniques,diffraction,looks at the intensity of light scattered in the forward direction from a sample and is typically used in the industrial arena in the form of laser diffractometers.
