Landscape development and regional water supply -- mutual effects and demands on land use 23d conference of the German Society of Rural Land Management, 9-11 October 2002 in Ulm

These processes represent the main aspects of sustainable development. Developing land use mainly depends on finding solutions to conflicting goals of different users of the land. Owing to political conditions (e.g. EU water regulation direction), multiple demands on the regional water supply will dominate land development and rural land management. The search for goal-oriented and economically feasible concepts for land users and regional water supply will have a severe impact on the design and management of land use in watersheds and water protection areas. Presentations held on this topic at a scientific congress of the German Society of Rural Land Management (DLKG) in 2002 in Ulm, Germany, are summarized and commented upon.
