Cleaning up radioactive gases

Metal-organic frameworks (MOF) can be used to capture and remove volatile radioactive gases like iodine from spent nuclear fuel say researchers from America. The discovery could be applied to nuclear fuel reprocessing -since fuel can be reprocessed to recover fissile materials and provide fresh fuel for nuclear power - or to clean up nuclear reactor accidents. The process also reduced the volume of high-level wastes.
