Guillain-Barre syndrome

We read with interest the Review by van Doom and co-workers.1 These authors state that Campylobacter jejuni is the most commonly identified infection that precedes Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), and they discuss evidence that this infection contributes to the pathogenesis of GBS through molecular mimicry and a cross-reactive immune response. However, the authors did not mention Helicobacter pylori infection, a crucial antecedent infection that, like Cjejuni, seems to be associated with the development of autoimmune sequelae observed in peripheral neuropathies and GBS.
