NHS organisations must comply with criteria on healthcare-acquired infections or face prosecution

Trusts may be prosecuted or prevented from providing services if they fail to meet new legal requirements for tackling healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs).NHS organisations have to comply with nine new criteria concerning cleanliness, or face criminal proceedings.Trusts must verify that they will comply with the criteria as part of a registration procedure with the new NHS inspectorate, the Care Quality Commission. Applications for registration must be received by the commission between January 12 and February 6.
