Iill Mafn may sound quintessentially English but you only have to step into her Kumeu home or take a quick look at the products she designs to see that living in New Zealand colours her entire life. The clear, vivid colours of the Pacific rule the colour scheme in her contemporary house and native plants reign in her large garden on 1.2 hectares in rural west Auckland. That influence also features strongly in the textiles she designs and manufactures through her business, Jill Main New Zealand, withitems such as 'Moa' faux fur cushions and merino wool throws. Touches of paua and tapa cloth appear in many of the designs.
